The New York Times Nice To Sarah Palin?
What is going on when the Politics section of the on line New York Times says nice things about Gov. Sarah Palin? It happened in an article entitled Palin Speaks to Investors in Hong Kong.
The article reported on Ms. Palin’s speech before investors in Hong Kong and went on to report that:
- she spoke to a “packed hotel ballroom” and
- “she was articulate”
- “well-prepared” and
- “even compelling“.
Whoa! What is going on here?
The article quoted positive comments about her from a few people.
“‘The speech was wide-ranging, very balanced, and she beat all expectations,’ said Doug A. Coulter, head of private equity in the Asia-Pacific region for LGT Capital Partners.”
This is too much. I had to double-check the URL (link) to make sure I wasn’t reading a phishing site. You know, one of those web sites that “pretends” to be a big company but is really some hacker or Internet “evil-doer” trying to ruin the reputation of The New York Times by being nice to Ms. Palin. I checked. Nope, it was the real deal. It was a New York Times article about Sarah Palin and it was positive.
Will wonders never cease? Couldn’t believe it. So I read on.
Another quote in the article could have come directly from her PAC site:
“‘She’s definitely a serious future presidential candidate, and I understand why she plays so well in middle America,‘ said Mr. Coulter, a Canadian.”
This is The New York Times? Being nice to Sarah Palin?
And get this, a Mr. Goode who is “an African-American” (that’s a description right from the NY Times article) and did polling for President Obama was quoted in the article as saying this: “‘They really prepared her well,’ he said. ‘She was articulate and she held her own. I give her credit. They’ve tried to categorize her as not being bright. She’s bright.’”
But “middle America” already knows that.
