Jets for Jerks Program

Seems like House lawmakers aren’t aware that these are “hard times” for taxpayers.

They want to spend $550 million, of your dollars, to buy more passenger jets. The Wall Street Journal reports that these House members want “senior government officials” to fly around in style in Gulfstream and Boeing planes.

The article quoted Sen. Claire McCaskill (D., Mo.) in an interview Sunday:

“The whole thing kind of makes me sick to my stomach. It is evidence that some of the cynicism about Washington is well placed — that people get out of touch and they spend money like it’s Monopoly money.”

See, even some Democrats get it!
