Obama Wants To Track You On The Internet
Most patriotic Americans dislike cookies. No, not the delicious kind we all love to eat (Tessler prefers toll house cookies with walnuts).
I’m talking about the “cookie” that is a small text file deposited in your computer when you visit a website so websites, marketing agencies and a host of other commercial (and not-so-commercial) ventures can track what you do on the Internet and know what your interests are while surfing the Net.
Cookies are intrusive computer files that invade your privacy. They record your real IP address (unless it is hidden). And when the government knows what your IP address is, then they know who you are on the Internet!
Since 2000, U.S. government web sites have not been allowed to deposit a cookie in your computer when you visit such a site.
But Obama wants to change all that. He wants to track you. And in light of my previous post on how the White House wants you to snitch on your friends and neighbors, are you surprised?
Why is this not being talked about? This should be plastered all over the Internet and blogs.
Here’s how Obama will be able to know what you’re doing on the Internet.
According to the NY Times the Obama Administration “… sees the old cookie policy [of prohibiting cookies] as out of date …”
On July 24, a little noticed outline from the White House proposed a new policy that would allow government web sites to place cookies in your computer. The White House placed a notice in the Federal Register asking for public comments about the Obama proposal.
You should make your strong comments known by going to the comments section and letting Mr. Obama know, in no uncertain terms, that you don’t want his government knowing more about you than they already do.
And here’s one more thing from that NY Times article, and I had all I could do to stop from hurling my lunch when I read this one:
“In May, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Center for Democracy and Technology said in a report that the near-total ban on persistent cookies is overkill and laid out policy principles to ‘facilitate President Obama’s vision of a transparent, accountable, and participatory government that at the same time is protective of individual privacy.’ ”
The only “transparency” Obama wants is to be able to see right into our computers and know what we are doing so he can keep his “enemies list” updated.
